Who We Are

Studio Duty

Ha roo, pups and cool cats - it's me, Zim!  Did everyone have a good weekend?  We did, but of course, being Working Breed pups, Cam and I spent a lot of the time working.  It's who we are!

Mom did some sewing down in the Studio, so that's where we posted ourselves.  Here I am, helping in the outer part of the Studio:

IMG_0191Zim
"Hey!  Whatcha doing?  Oooh.  A small bag holder with a purple carabiner!?  Who's that for?"

So many mysteries down there!

Cam was on Guard Duty in the inner room of the Studio.  "How's it look in there, Cam-a-roo?"

IMG_0186Cam
"Alles klar, Herr Kommissar!"

I think Cammie might be spending too much time listening to 80s songs with Mom ... if you know what I mean!

Anyway, I did what I needed to do to help Mom:

IMG_0193Zim
"Look into my eyes... deeper... deeper..."
IMG_0192Zim
"Yessss... yes, that's it!  The Kansas Ocean is calling.  Can... you... hear... it?"

Seriously.  What could beat a trip to the KSO with me!?!?   And yes, of course we went!  It was a win-win situation:  I got to go out for an adventure and after a long dry-spell of no birds around, Mom saw a Great Blue Heron and got some shots of him! Tell me I'm not a huge help!

I hope everyone else had as much fun as Cam and I did this weekend - even if we were working!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim!  I was lamenting to Mom earlier in the week that it's been forever since I've seen any of my goose friends - so she suggested a trip to Anneberg Park!  How cool! I hadn't been there in quite a while, and I almost always run into some gooses at that ocean!

I had a good look around when I got there, just taking in all the wonderful sights and smells and was slipping into the Zen of Zim Zone ... and then I spotted them!

IMG_8558Zim
"Look, Mom!  On the other side of the Anneberg Ocean!"

It was gooses alright, but not ones I had met before!

This guy swam a little closer to me:

IMG_8560CanadaGoose

He seemed unsure of me (or most likely of Mom!), but I encouraged him as best I could!

IMG_8573Zim
"It's OK, goose!  You can trust me - I'm Zim!"

Gooses have to be careful, but I could tell this guy wanted to be friends. He swam even closer and checked me out.

IMG_8564CanadaGoose
"Honk?"

I think maybe the other gooses at Anneberg put in a good word for me because he paddled around nearby for a while, then swam back over to his flock.  It was great hanging out with him for a while!

IMG_8574Zim
"I'll try to come back soon, new goose friend!"

Mom and I walked around the park for a bit, then I did the traditional "pose on the rocks" thing.

IMG_8578Zim
"Ha roo!"

I saw something that disturbed me and wanted to go investigate.  Check this out:

IMG_8586Zim

That's right - another "No German Shepherds Allowed" sign.  What is with this city!?!?  That is such discrimination!  I chose not to enter, either;  I stand in solidarity with my German Shepherd friends!  Especially Genny, who is reeeeeeally beautiful!  Did you know I've kissed her mom's nose a time or two?  It's true.  Thinking about them got me back on the track to serenity!

Anyway, over all, we sure had a great trip to Anneberg!  Thanks for coming with us; I hope to get back again soon, so I can make friends with all the new gooses!  Keep it serene, everybody!

Photo Finish Friday!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  In the true tradition of Photo Finish Friday, I've got just a jumbled bunch of pix for you from the past week.  Ready to see some of the highlights?  Let's go!

Cam and I did a lot of this during the week:

IMG_0133ZimCam

Our mornings have been cool - but still in the 80s or 90s during the day.

For the past couple of weeks, I got a job as a lifeguard:

IMG_0019Zim
Lifeguard on duty!

... but was allowed to go off-duty for walks and other times of total supervision.

IMG_0012Zim
"No, really.  I had to use the yard.
It's not like I just asked so I could take off the life preserver thing..."

Cam and I didn't let umm... my job as a lifeguard stand in our way of a little fun, of course!

IMG_0035CamZim
"Who... us!??!"
"I was just making sure this is on right, Mom ..."

That's it - Cam was just making sure my life preserver was on securely.  Isn't she helpful!?! I love having a kid sister!

Speaking of whom... check this out:

IMG_0134Cam
Sweet snooter action shot!

She might just have a nose for the weather after all!

Those of you who know me are bound to be shocked by this next picture.  I can't believe Mom caught me and Cam doing this ... AND I can't believe she got a photo of us!  I wasn't going to post this, but Cammie thought I should.  Brace yourselves; you won't often find me like this!!!  Here you go:

IMG_0550ZimCam

That's right - we were on the bed TOGETHER!  Almost ... touching.  I know.  I can barely believe it myself.  Oh, it's nothing against Cam - she's the best little sister a guy could ask for.  I'm just ... into having my own personal space.  You know.  No snuggling.  That's just ... no.  Cammie really likes this shot, though.  So does Mom.

Let's move along!

More of this, please!

IMG_0117ZimCam
"Let's go, Cam-a-roo!"
"Sounds good, Zimmie!"

Yep.  Nothing beats going out on an adventure!

I'm preserver-free now - you know, end of summer, not as much of a need for lifeguards and all.

I was going to end our post here, but Cam asked if I'd add one last picture.  She thought our good buddy Goose and his MOM would like this one.  Ready?  Here's the real snuggler in the family:

IMG_0074Cammie
Cammie.  Snuggle-bunny extraordinaire!

Yep.  And she lets Mom hold her paws and everything.  She seems to know when Mom really needs a good snuggle.

That's a wrap for now!  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Zim

Downtown!

Hello, everyone, it's me - Cam!  Guess where I got to go this week!?!  Right - downtown!  Mom and I weren't feeling alone and life wasn't making us lonely like that Petula Clark lady sang about, but we decided to go downtown anyway!   It was very exciting and we took lots of pictures - are you ready to take a look?  Let's go - downtown!

We parked near the county courthouse and stopped to admire the Amanda Arnold Arch. Mom wanted me to strike a pose, but I was busy checking everything out still!

IMG_8522CamArch
"Hello!  Oh, really?  Me?  Why thank you."

There were people going in and out of the courthouse and lots of them stopped to say nice things about me.  No wonder Petula headed downtown for a pick-me-up!  Let's head through the arch and check out the front of the courthouse!

There were people milling about out there, too, so I turned on the charm and struck some super poses for Mom - like this one:

IMG_8528RCCCam

I know how to work a crowd!

We walked around a bit, then I decided to sit down while Mom took some shots of the area.

IMG_8538DowntownCam
"Mom?  That person walked by and ignored me!"

Some people walked by me and didn't say anything. I was a bit surprised by that!  Hmm.  Maybe they had worries like Petula.

Oh!  Want a close-up of the cool paving stone?

IMG_8539DowntownPaws

Pretty spiffy!  They were scattered throughout the sidewalk along Poyntz Avenue. That's one of the main streets in the older part of town.

IMG_8545CamPoyntz
"... ♩Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk, where the neon signs are pretty...♩"

Speaking of neon signs, you can see Harry's behind me and the Wareham Opera House.  Harry's is a restaurant that's part of the Wareham ... but you can read more about them at the sites I linked to.  They're quite historic!

They have some special monuments honoring our military veterans in front of the courthouse.

IMG_8543CamVeterans
If you can't read the inscription, please click here.

I was going to save these pix for Veterans Day, but I think it's good to honor our veterans every day!

There are bricks in front of that monument with names of some of the veterans from our city and county inscribed on them.

IMG_8544CamVeterans

How about another view of the Riley County Courthouse?

IMG_8548CamRCC

Petula never mentions all the cool historic stuff in her song. Maybe she went to a different part of downtown?

There was a group of college-aged girls getting into their car who kept giggling and saying things like "Oh, she's so CUTE!" and stuff, so I posed sweetly for them.

IMG_8550CamPoyntz
"Hello, people of downtown!"
What a fun place!

Anyway... we headed back through the arch and I took a quick break:

IMG_0114CamArch

Can you see the arch back there, behind me? Mom liked something else that was behind me -- right here:

IMG_0113CamVW

Do I look worried there? I wasn't sure about Mom taking pix of someone's car! Sure enough ...

IMG_8556Cam

Ha roowooroo!  Just kidding!

I hope you had fun coming downtown with us!

"... Downtown, things will be great when you're
Downtown, don't wait a minute more
Downtown, everything is waiting for you
Downtown... ♩"

Yep. That's going to be stuck in my head all day!

Cammie!

PS:  If you'd like to see more pix from my Downtown Adventure, we have a set on FlickR at this link.

Thank You, Nebraska!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  Check out this shot of me and Cam from this morning:

IMG_0076CamZim
"Oh, yeah!  Can you smell it, Cam?!?"
"Umm... Zimmie?  CAT!"

It was great!

IMG_0077CamZim
"Isn't that great, Cam?!?"
"CAT!  Seriously, Zim!  CAT!!!"

It was just my friend Fluffy Black Cat from next door.  I had something else on my mind!  I convinced Cam to turn and face north with me and ...

IMG_0080ZimCam
"Can you smell it now, Cam?  Can you feel it?!?"
"Yes... and it's quite lovely ... but there's still a CAT over in our garden!!!"

I'd like to thank the good folks in Nebraska for sending that cool air our way!  Picture perfect Fall days mean lots of extra adventures for me and Cammie!  Ha roo!

Spa Time!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I sure did - nice walks, play time, an adventure or two, snuggle time ... and I got to have some spa time yesterday!  I just recently had my nails and paws done, and I'm not blowing coat right now, but I did get to have a bath.  Or actually, a shower.  It felt wonderful!  Dad installed a new shower head and there is a pulsing/massage feature that I really enjoyed - and Mom said it's great at rinsing my thick, fluffy coat out!

We don't have any pictures of that - something about iPhones and splashing water not mixing well.  At any rate, after my shower, Mom and I headed out to the deck.

IMG_0048Cam
Me, looking super fluffy!

See the towels? We soaked them through and through, and moved on to more! After tons of toweling off, we played with a toy for a while. I got to choose anything I wanted to bring outside, and I chose my Kong Stix! We played with it for a while, then I just wanted to snuggle.

IMG_0049Cam
Me and my Kong Stix, snuggled up against my mom

Mom fluffed my fur while the nice Kansas breeze helped dry me off!  We did both sides and my tummy, then I sat up for a while so Mom could get my back.

You can even see the wind floofing my neck furs in this next shot:

IMG_0051Cam
Me and my shadow

It felt so good!

IMG_0053Cam
"What?!?"

What?!?  Well, yes, I know it goes against the rules as set forth in the Siberian Husky manual to be so cooperative for baths, but it was part of my training for being in the show ring!  I was trained at an early age to accept it in stride ... and so, really.  It feels soooooo good!

And don't worry about Zimmie.  Mom said he's not due for a bath for a while yet and that he'll more than make up for me being cooperative.  Ha roowooroo!!!

Have a great Monday!

Cammie!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie, back with the most serene photos from my outing to Tuttle Creek State Park!  Are you ready to take a look?  Let's go to the lake!

We saw three Great Blue Herons on our trip! Mom loves those birdies! Here is the first one we saw:

IMG_8326GreatBlueHeron

He was pretty far away, but he looked so peaceful out there fishing!

Here's our favorite Sunflower photo:

IMG_8302Sunflowers

It was a very yellow day, as there was also tons of Goldenrod in bloom:

IMG_8348Goldenrod

If you look closely, there is a bug on the lower left side! Zim wanted me to point that out!

Here is Great Blue Heron number two:

IMG_8408GreatBlueHeron

He was pretty far away, too, but seemed to be the best fisherbird of the bunch.

This is Great Blue Heron number three!

IMG_8389GreatBlueHeron

He was the closest one to us; we watched him for a long time from our floating dock!

IMG_8369GreatBlueHeron

Isn't he beautiful?  And he knew we were there, but was OK with it.

IMG_8386GreatBlueHeron
"Want to see something really impressive?
Turn your camera to the rapid shutter setting and get ready!!"

Very helpful, don't you think!?! What a nice birdie!  Let's watch him in action!!!

Get ready ... and ...

IMG_8399GreatBlueHeron

Dive!  Dive!  Dive!!!

IMG_8400GreatBlueHeron

IMG_8401GreatBlueHeron

IMG_8402GreatBlueHeron

We aren't sure if he got a fishie or not, but it sure was fun to watch him try!

Thanks for sharing part of your Sunday with us.  If you'd like to see more pix from my first trip to the lake, we made a special set for them in our FlickR account.  Have a wonderful, serene rest of the day!
