Guy Time

Ha roo, pups and cool cats! It's me again - Zim! Like I told you yesterday, Dave and I took Mom to the Kansas Ocean Sunday evening. It was tons of fun! I have some pix to show you, so let's get to some of them, OK?

Here we are, walking along, enjoying some guy time:

DSCN6504 Dave and Zim
"Isn't it great to have some guy time, Dave?"

I mean, we LOVE our sisters, but it's cool to spend time with just us guys! Oh...
errr... and with Mom.

DSCN6505 Dave and Zim
"Sorry, Mom, no offense."

As you can see in the photo above, I flashed Mom one of my million-dollar smiles and everything was cool. (...of course, for REAL guy time, Dad should have been there ... but ...
um ... OK, my head is starting to spin. Let's just enjoy the walk, OK?)

Speaking of cool, it was pretty toasty that evening (in the 90s... or mid-30s for those of you on the "C" scale) but there was a great breeze blowing. Here I am, taking a break to enjoy that:

DSCN6506_2 Zim
"Ahhh! Feel the breeze, Davy!"

Mom asked us to stop and smile for the camera. We both gave her our cheesiest smiles:

DSCN6507 Dave and Zim

Ha roo roo roo! She decided to just let us keep walking. Here's a great shot of Dave:

DSCN6511 Dave
"Hey, Zim! You don't have any sunglasses on you, do you?"

Well, maybe not great; the sun was in his eyes. But he was having fun! And here's an action shot of me, as I was walking along, checking everything out:

We'll share some more pix later in the week. I hope you had a good time walking along with us!

Yep. Better hold on.

Oh. Dave and I took Mom to the Kansas Ocean yesterday and had a blast. I'll tell you about it, show you a few pix later in the week. For now ... you know where to find me.

Serene Scenery Sunday

Tail wags, dear friends. It's me, Stormy, here with Serene Scenery Sunday. This week I'm doing things a little bit differently. No sunsets, no flowers, just a few pix of me having a delightful time with one of my stuffies. It is my puppy stuffie and I haven't played with him for a long time! I've been feeling really playful for the past couple of days, so Mom thought maybe I'd enjoy playing with my puppy. It gave both of us great joy and serenity, so I thought I'd share the photos with you today!

We played and pounced for a while, then hung out in the shade together.

Doesn't that just look like a perfectly peaceful way to spend some time!?

Here's a collage showing you more of how we spent our time:

StormCollageSquirrel

We had a great time together - and I think it gave Mom as much pleasure as it did me! ...
and my puppy.

At the end of our play session, I carried him into the house and had Mom put him in a safe place.

I wouldn't want to see him fall into the

Have a serene Sunday!

The Many Faces of Dave

Woo, everypup and everycat! It's me. Dave. Stormy said it's my turn to post, but I didn't really know what to post about. I had to think hard on this...

IMG_0029fX Dave
"Hmm..."

As you can see, I'm giving it a lot of thought ... but feel sort of funny about it. (Ammy told me to say that, since I'm in cartoon mode.) Then I had a great idea! How about I do a few poses for you on the bed? Here's a little collage
I call The Many Faces of Dave.

CollageManyFacesOfDave

It was a lot of work, doing all those poses. I think a nap is in order.

Have a great Saturday - and remember not to work too hard!

Luv,
Dave

Photo Finish Friday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats! It's me, Zim, here with Photo Finish Friday! I'm pretty late with my post, so let's get right to business! Mom took one cool portrait shot of me and played around with it in PhotoShop Elements. We thought we'd show you the different effects we got. Ready?

Here's the "before":

DSCN6390 Zim
Me. Zim.

How about we turn that into a framed painting?

DSCN6390framepaint Zim

Or maybe a cartoon with a cool camo border?

DSCN6390cartoon Zim

Or how about a pencil sketch, with just a few small touches of color?

DSCN6390bwcolor Zim

I can't decide which one I like best! What do you all think? Do your bipeds go crazy with photos like this?

And Now For A Musical Interlude...

Hi everypuppy and everycat. It's me, Ammy! I don't sing as well as Davy, so I'll just show you a photo and ask ...

... what old John Denver song am I thinking of?

Hee hee hee!

Sibes ARE Watchdogs!

Hi everypuppy and everycat! It's me - Ammy! You know, the biped "experts" say that Siberian Huskies aren't good watchdogs. I've commented before that while I don't actually bark to alert to something out front, I will race to the window and stare! Mom and Dad have learned that if I do run to a window and look out, it's because there is someone out there. Or something important going on.

Here's an example from the other day. Mom didn't get the "race to the window" part, but here I am, staring out the window:

DSCN6281 Ammy
Me - Ammy - being a really good, alert watchpuppy!

Mom saw me and asked if someone was out there. I gave her my very serious watchpuppy look.

DSCN6282 Ammy
"How could you even ask that? Of course there's someone out there!"

Mom came to the door right away to see who was out there! She knew that if I was staring that intently, there had to be something major going on out there! She looked through the window and shot a picture of the intruder. Check it out!

DSCN6283 Bunny

See!?!? Siberians make perfect watchdogs!
I watched him really well, until he finally left. I think bipeds should re-think this "Siberians are not good watchdogs" thing!

Love,
Ammy

Posie Pix Monday

Ha roo, pups and kit-cats! Zim here again with the wrap-up on the blooms in our garden! Now where was I yesterday? Oh, yeah. Right about ... here:

IMG_0006 Zim
Drying off on the deck after my b-a-t-h

We can see everything from the deck - the sunsets, the golf course, the rolling hills ... and our garden! Let's look at what's blooming down there!

Here's a little Daisy that Mom thought was sweet:

DSCN6438 Daisy

I like that bug on the one petal. Speaking of bugs - here's another one:

DSCN6440 Butterfly Weed

That guy is on the
Butterfly Weed. And speaking of butterflies ... check this out!

Pretty cool, don't you think?

Here is a collage of some of the other stuff down there:

CollageFlowersAUG10
Clockwise, starting in the top left: Rosebud, Rose of Sharon, Crape Myrtle

I walked around helping Mom take the pix, but she didn't get any of me in the yard. Something about trying to take pix of the posies and making sure I didn't try to roll in something funky after my bath.
Me? How does she get these crazy ideas?!?

How about a couple more Rose of Sharon blooms? These are the white, double fluffy ones:

DSCN6444 Rose of Sharon
Rose of Sharon. Note the bug coming in for a landing!

DSCN6433 Rose of Sharon

That's about it. Some of the day lilies are still in bloom, but we didn't get any good photos of them.

Thanks for joining us in the garden! I hope you liked looking around.

Serene Scenery Sunday - Mum's the Word!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats! It's me, Zim, here with Serene Scenery Sunday. Today, it's all about my mum's mums. We currently have three different colors blooming in front of Ao4 Headquarters, and I just love checking them out when I go out! Let's have a look!

Here is a little pot of pink ones on the front porch:

DSCN6410 Zim and more Mums
"Hmm..."

I wasn't trying to eat them or anything; that would not be in keeping with the whole "
serenity" theme. Well, it works for me, but that sort of thing seems to get mom all spun up. Here's a close-up:

DSCN6407 Mums
Mum's mums

Pretty, aren't they? That pot will fill in soon and look a lot fuller. (For more close-ups, please feel free to visit the Garden Pix set on our FlickR page.)

Over in the garden, just to the left of
where Calico Kitty was lounging the other day, we have a line of white mums mom planted a bunch of years ago. They're real full and tall; in front of those, she planted three smaller gold ones! Over here:

DSCN6421 Zim and the Mums

I like that color; it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I mean
on the inside. I'm already warm and fuzzy on the outside. Ha roo roo roo! Here's a close-up:

DSCN6413 Mums

And here is a white bloom; there are only a couple flowers on them right now. The rest are waiting for cooler weather to come out.

DSCN6414 Mums

So that's what's blooming out front right now. There are lots of things in the backyard. I had plenty of time to check everything out the other day, as I spent a lot of time on the deck. You see ... not to bring up something totally un-serene or anything ... but I had a ... b-a-t-h. Actually, I was really good about it (for a Siberian Husky) and felt great afterwards. Here I am, drying off on the deck:

IMG_0007 Zim
The after-bath

Don't I look like a rock star? Anyway, I'll show you around the back gardens tomorrow, OK? Let's just enjoy the mums for now!

Have a serene Sunday!

Making Progress

Tail wags, dear readers, it's me - Stormy! As many of you know, Zim and I have been trying so hard to win over the Calico Cat who lives in our neighborhood! Way back in the Spring, Zim spotted her posing on our side-yard steps and I met with her just a couple weeks ago just down a few houses. We know she's getting more and more comfortable with us, and I think we're starting to make great strides toward being friends!

Yesterday afternoon, I took Mom out front and look who was in our garden!

DSCN6401 Stormy and Calico
"Hey, Calico! It's me, Stormy!"

She stayed there and we did a bit of communing while Mom shot some photos.

DSCN6396 Calico

Isn't she just beautiful? Here's a portrait Mom took:

DSCN6400 Calico
Callie-co Kitty

I just slowly walked around, not getting too close, but letting her know I was there and wanted to be friends. I gave very slow tail wags to her to let her know I am gentle. Here is a collage of her, as she was studying me.

CollageCalicoSOT

Then we got a tiny bit closer ... and she meowed at me and did
Malamute ears!!!

DSCN6402 Storm and Calico
Callie doing Malamute ears

Whoa. I was confused; I've never seen a kitty do Malamute ears before! She ran off before I could ask her what she was trying to say!

I emailed my friend Huffle Mawson for advice. She had some wonderful words of wisdom for me about why a kit-cat would do Malamute ears. She said it could be for all kinds of reasons and named a few and then said that she does Malamute ears when her mum gets in her face with the flashy beast! Ah HA! It must have been because of my mom and the camera! I hope it's that and not something I did. (Not that I'm trying to break bad on my mom, just that I thought I was making more headway with Callie than that!)

Just thought I'd update you! Since she's out there posing by our Support Our Troops sign (like another furry friend does), I'd say she's starting to feel at home! We're making progress!

Tail wags,
Storms

What Am I Thinking?

Hi everypuppy and everykitten! It's me - Ammy! You know, I'm not the only jokester around here! We all like to say things to try to get each other to laugh! Just yesterday, for example, Davy and I were hanging out together and he turned to me and asked,

DSCN6389 Dave
"Hey, Ammy! Do you know what I'm thinking?!?"

At first, I started to giggle, but then my response was,
"Yes, and do you know what I'm thinking?"

DSCN6387 Ammy
"Mmmrrrph...."

And Davy knew that I was thinking he was a lot happier with Mom putting that watermelon sticker on his head than I was when she put it on mine! But then... I said, "Guess what else I'm thinking, Davy?"

He had a couple guesses, based on the look on my face in that picture above... then he gave up. So I said, "I'm thinking...

DSCN6383 Mike

...
"that Daddy might have had too much watermelon!"

DSCN6394 Ammy
"Hee hee hee! Daddy's funny!"

Busy Times for the Guide Dog for the Color Blind

Woo, everypup and everycat! It's me, Dave - Guide Dog for the Color Blind. As many of you know, as GDFTCB, it's up to me to check out new fabric Mom brings into the Studio. It's important for me to see them early in the creative process, so I can make a mental note about what wonderful colors we've added to our palette. We haven't had much time to sew lately, but we have done a little work in the Fabric Acquisition area. I thought I'd share just a little of that with you so you can see how hard I work around here!

First up is a little fun pack of fabrics Mom and I won from her quilt group! (Everyone who finished this one project had their name put in a hat and Mom's name was drawn!!!) I was so excited when it arrived in the mail! Here's a little collage of me checking it out:

CollageDaveGift
Guide Dog for the Color Blind at work

It's patriotic fabric in a cool draw-string bag made from another patriotic fabric. It has one of my favorite sayings on it - "God Bless America"! I just love it - and so does Mom! We ♥ patriotic fabric!!!

Next, we got in a pretty substantial order from our friends at the
Fat Quarter Shop! They had an insane offer of 40% off the 1895 Batiks. Mom and I have a weakness for batiks. Have a look at these babies:

DSCN6228 Dave
Simply irresistible!

Here's a closer look:

DSCN6230 Dave

Mom said that the bigger stack is called "
Shaved Ice" and the other one is "Ocean".

DSCN6231 Dave
"Did you say 'Shaved Ice'?!?"

Zim heard Mom say "ocean" and had to check it out:

DSCN6234 Zim
"Hey! It's like the colors of the Kansas Ocean... isn't it, Dave?"

Well, not reeeeeeeeally... but it made Mom think about other oceans she's been to. I think she should make a quilt for her and Zimmie to share with some of those fabrics. That would be pretty cool. Speaking of cool... this "Shaved Ice" pack?

DSCN6233 Dave
"This one's MINE!"

OH, yeah! I can see something for ME out of this! Although ... I think we should do something for Ammy, too - she's REALLY into ice! ... And Stormy would look really cool lounging on a blue quilt ... and come to think of it, Zim epitomizes cool... so ... maybe we should all share the "Shaved Ice" pack!

I wonder if we could combine "Shaved Ice" with the "Ocean" ... or would that cause some freezing issues? Then Mom throws other stuff into the mix (click here) ... and asks what I think. Woo. This Guide Dog for the Color Blind stuff is hard work!!! I think I need some shaved ice and a trip to the Kansas Ocean ...

Luv,
Dave
